Stolen

Well I’ve debated on whether to even write this or not, but I decided it would be a good idea if even one person is helped by it.

Last week my wallet was stolen, right out of my purse, in a grocery store. I turned my back for a moment when reaching for items, and it was gone when I went to check-out. Damn! No wallet.   Within 20 minutes 3 credit cards had fraudulent charges on them. Thank goodness the grocery store was close to my home and I was able to call all companies and the bank quickly and report the theft.

I was devastated, not to mention angry.  I sometimes forget that there are people in this world who are selfish, criminal and just plain bad.  People who have no regard for others at all.  I tend to think the absolute best of people until they show their ugly side.  I made excuses like they must have been hungry or maybe they had children to feed or they have been out of work, etc.  But the way the charges happened so fast, and in different directions from the store, calculated and direct, made me realize these were just plain thieves, robbers and horrible people. Later that week I discovered that there had been a robbery that same night in the parking garage.

I guess I can count my lucky stars I wasn’t directly engaged and the theft happened without a confrontation, but that doesn’t help the feeling of violation and the headaches of getting your life back in order after this type of ordeal.

It has been a week and there was so much to do.  If this ever happens to you there are obvious actions to take.  1) Call all Credit cards and report cards stolen. 2) Place an alert on all 3 credit agencies regarding stolen wallet.  3) Make a police report that details what happened and the lost sustained.  4) Apply for new License with DMV.

Also, just to prepare for the worst, always keep Credit card info for cards you have in your wallet at home.  Only carry cards you actually use.  And I hope I don’t have to remind everyone to never keep your PINS, social security card or passwords in your wallet. That’s just common sense.   Always make sure you have a secret password on all your credit cards.  It is an additional security piece of information that you can request on your cards.

So this incident is behind me.  I am still disheartened by the apathy of the grocery store and the police, but with everything else going on in the world, I guess one lost wallet is low on the totem pole. And you can be sure these thieves count on that.

So my friends, just a note to stay alert, always keep your purse and wallet close, and try to keep a positive attitude about people when something like this happens.   Lean on your friends and family for moral and emotional support, and remember each day is a gift.  To be lived fully and freely…..while keeping both eyes open about the truth of the less than honest people of the world.

Remember, no one can steal your happiness or love, unless you let them.  Don’t let them!  Back to editing the next DVD – MountainScapes.

Peace, Love and Light always,
